Drop-in nights are as a safe, dynamic, and empowering place to be. Youth who attend are welcomed into a non-judgmental, inclusive environment where they can hang out and have fun, develop social skills, and learn new things. Youth, volunteers, and staff take part in a group meeting at 7:30pm where they are informed of different planned activities throughout the night, and then play a silly upfront game for a chance to win a sick prize! During the evening, youth have the chance to try out a craft, take part in a planned gym game like dodgeball or floor hockey, have a free snack, or just hang out with friends and mentors. Other activities available throughout the night include ping pong, video games, Foosball, air hockey, skateboarding, a computer room, board games, and much more! If you are between 14-18 years old, Tuesday nights are for you! Transitioning into your high school years brings about a totally new set of experiences and challenges. As a result, the dynamic of Tuesday nights as compared to Monday nights is a little bit different! Tuesdays at the MAT feature just as many awesome activities as on Mondays, but the night is typically slightly less structured as deep, heart to heart discussions typically take over! Tuesday night youth also get to participate in Urban Skills nights on Thursdays, where they get to discover new passions and talents.
Urban Skills Nights run on Thursdays for youth 14-18! These evenings offer more focused programming aimed at teaching useful skills that can be carried on into adulthood. Urban Skills Nights in the past have included jam nights, cooking lessons & competitions, self-care and relaxation nights, graffiti and art nights, kickboxing and MMA lessons, swimming, movie nights, archery lessons, skate nights and much, much more! Check out the events calendar on our home page for upcoming Urban Skills nights.
